Beware of This Misleading Post About The Effectiveness of COVID-19 Vaccines

A visual shared on social media by L’Anti-Média Facebook page claims that “Covid-19 vaccines do not prevent people from contracting and passing it on.” Be careful, this post lacks context and is misleading about the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines. Trials have proven that the vaccine is effective against the most serious side effects of the virus, against asymptomatic forms, and against the virus itself, according to several experts interviewed by AFP.

Even before any vaccines on the market were distributed, thousands of people were given doses of the vaccine to measure its effectiveness. The efficacy of the different vaccines were then measured at 95% in the case of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, 94.1% for that of Moderna, and 82.4% for that of Oxford/AstraZeneca.
